At this time Skylarks is only accepting Senior membership requests (18 years and over) from those with a current A or B certificate or who are nearly at the point of taking their A Certificate, i.e. able to take off, fly circuits and land safely without direct assistance (i.e. no buddy box lead)

We do not have additional capacity to train people from scratch. As the year progresses this will hopefully change as existing members develop their skills, therefore if you would like to be placed on a wait list, please contact us via the “Contact Us” tab.

To fly at Skylarks Model Flying Group flying field, you must possess

  1. BMFA (British Model Flying Association) membership which is the British organisation that represents all facets of the hobby to government and the Civil Aviation Authority. By being a member of the BMFA you are also automatically covered by a £25 Million global insurance cover. For more information about the organisation and the insurance policy, please visit where full details are available.
  2. Be compliant with the new Civil Aviation Regulations which state that the owner of a model over 250gms must be registered and have their owners number clearly visible on the model and that the pilot is also registered. Information on this can be found at the following websites
    Civil Aviation or BMFA

We currently do not have junior members, however any person aged 17 and under who has BMFA membership either as a BMFA Country member or as a member of another affiliated club and holds a BMFA “A Certificate” or higher and conforms to the new CAA Drone Registration process is welcome to use our facilities as long as they are accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian.
